Laid off for a month now. Not a single callback. I've put in close to 30 applications, which is scraping the bottom of the barrel for my rather specialized skills. On the bright side, there have been no rejection letters either. Some of my former co-workers have received quite a few of those. I've also gotten about 4 "congratulations, your resume was forwarded to the hiring manager" emails, but nothing else. I've got good prospects at some national labs and universities, but neither move quickly, and the latter wouldn't even start until August even if I got the job.
My next step is to branch out to software development for the time being. I don't want to be a developer, but I can do it, and I have to eat. This sucks
