As my dear husband mentioned in the other thread, I had a fight with our cell people yesterday. I say fight lightly because I never raised my voice or said anything unkind beyond letting them know I had a quote from a competitor.
So last October I called and asked how we could lower our bill. My phone was close to being paid off and I knew from past negotiations that they often will waive the last month or two if asked nicely. I also wanted a new unlimited plan as it was less expensive than the weird intérim plans they had and there was talk I might be made essential to travel and I wanted more data. That part didn’t happen thankfully.
The kids have text and talk with data blocks and always have. I hot spot them when needed.
I asked for
@HCGLNS and I to have unlimited and for my watch and tablet to share with mine. Buddy on the phone said sure and he was talking super fast.
The bill was way less so I thanked him.
Yesterday we’re in the car and I get a text that I am at 90% of my data. How can that happen on an unlimited plan?
The place we were at had a random shop for our phone carrier and they kindly looked into it and told me the truth. Buddy on the phone put the unlimited plan on my kid’s line that had the data block for years and gave me some tiny plan. Wtf?
I called and requested a refund of the extra on her line for the whole time and a heavily discounted plan for us going forward. I had a quote from a discount carrier.
She tried to make excuses that they can only refund 30 days and why didn’t I notice? Not an unreasonable question, but the online bill is a mess and the new bill was way cheaper and I trusted them not to be unethical and put an expensive unlimited data plan on a kid’s line with a data block the pre -dated the change. She called back ten minutes later and said she could in fact give the entire refund and offered a heavily discounted plan going forward.
Pardon the length of this, I guess I had to get this out. I was super cranky when I found out it had happened.
