TIL: Today I Learned

Surprised you haven’t invested in an e-bike.
I get that a lot, on one of a score of other things I'm considering. E-bikes I'm just a little iffy on, as while the battery lasts 3 years, its still waste once done. I'm told its generally green, but I'm not completely sold.

Recycling of used lithium batteries still needs work.

Not to mention the nickel and cobalt being overmined in the ocean...where some people throw away said lithium batteries, ironically due to a misinterpreted meme for the most part.

I want and hope I'm editorializing there based on drunk comments at a dive bar, but knowing what I know of pollution its hard not to believe.

Today I learned that a girl I had a big crush on in my younger days actually shares a birthday with my mom.

I wonder if this means anything.

Today I learned that my potential for advancement in Canada Post is very limited because I am not bilingual AND that the software that runs the mail in this country is very complex.

If I've learned anything from being Belgian and having plenty of Canadian friends, it's that most government "bilingual" tests are jokes that can be easily gamed.

I don't think these are the only sources of the elements, but maybe the original source? Still neat to see that it's all mostly stardust!
The missing colour (brownish) is decay, apparently.

But here's a better one:

TDIL
In the Orlando Super Nintendo World that is due to open in 2025 they will have a Donkey Kong section that will feature a ride based on the mine cart levels of the Donkey Kong Country games. While the cars will appear run on mine cart rails, the actual ride will feature the Universal Boom Coaster design that utilizes a sideways track. This will allow the minecart to "jump gaps" in the mine tracks.
I probably won't have the money for a trip to Universal Orlando at any point in my future, but damn that sounds amazing.

Universal is cheap compared to Disney. Room, tickets, and the ultimate pass (skip the lines thing) can be had for a couple can be had for less than $2000. Airfare is not included in that, but deals can be found.

TIL Courtney Love was the bride in the video for I wanna Be Sedated by The Ramones.
There's a part of me that went, "Wait, that can't be right. She wouldn't have been old enough to... oh, right. They shot the video in '88. Nevermind.". In my defense, the video, at least to me, had the quality of early MTV, and the song came out in the 70's, so my brain just always assumed it was one of the original rotations.

She's had quite a life. I only knew her from Hole and her marriage to Kurt, and the couple of movies.

1988 explains why The Ramones were being listened to by the cool, older skateboarders when I was a kid.TiL the video came out a decade after the song. Thanks!

Yeah, I heard about that a while back. It was in the original movie, just on screen for such a short amount of time and at such a low resolution that no one could read it. Now with high-def transfers and such all sorts of little details pop out.

As i understand it, film doesn't have a resolution, so it might have been more visible on the big screen (i'm assuming your talking VHS or TV broadcasts, right). Of course, unless you're a film projectionist with too much time on your hands, it's unlikely anyone would have stopped it at that frame to read this.

Still, it's cool that it was there.
