You know, I like SMBC as much as anyone, but it seems to me Zach goes to the well of "Angry bespectacled pseudointellectual troll logic raving quasi-scientist" even more often than usual lately.

Well Gunshow is done, I'll miss it to high hell but it's better that it ended on a good note... A horrifying good note but still.
Yeah, I noticed that author tends to burn out on his projects, I'm surprised gunshow kept going as long as it did. Had a good run.

Girls With Slingshots is ending soon, too.
So Hazel gets to be an abrasive alcoholic womanchild forever. Wonder how many dangling strings the author will tie up before it's over.

I'm pretty sure Megatokyo is on life support at this point. We're lucky if we get 20 pages a year. Shortpacked is ending soon but Dumbing of Age is going strong. I have no idea how much longer Gunnerkrigg Court has but it feels like it should end within the next year or two.

Girl Genius will probably run until the day Phil Foglio or his wife die... probably in an airship accident.

Without putting too specific a time frame on things, it feels like 90% of my my webcomics list will probably be wrapping up in the next 3 years or so.

I'm often surprised when I hear Megatokyo is still running. I gave it up year ago when it hadn't updated for months and even then it seemed like it was running on fumes.
It's not even that I don't think he cares about it anymore... part of it is he and his wife have health problems, part of it is he's working on a visual novel game based on Megatokyo, part of it is that it's just he and his wife doing all the site stuff and part of it is that he's just a fucking perfectionist on his pages. Something HAS to give and I think it's just going to be the comic.

To clarify the Brofist, I seem to be in the same web comic boat. There was a time I read 50 every morning, but that number has dwindled for multiple reasons, and in the coming year or so, it's going to take a serious hit.

I know the feeling. These days, the only webcomics I read are Dr. McNinja, Questionable Content, and Awkward Zombie.

It's always a weird feeling when a web comic ends, even when they have spin-off lik scarygoround or Roomies. And then you go through the pointless grief stages wondering whether it's a legacy series or if they should ve stuck with the original series. And then you just say fuck it and just read comics.

Speaking of which, I've noticed JI8 updates getting less and less frequent. It's been over a month since the last one, and it was another month before that one for the previous.

Yeah, some weird shit went on with him a few months ago but I think it's getting to a weekly basis again. Of course out of all infrequent comics ,fan comics have the best schedule for infrequency.

Speaking as a webcomic artist who updates infrequently lately, maybe it's just priority shifts and changing interests. With Fade I love the story and I really want to tell it, but its a lot of time consuming work and I have gained new interests in the meantime. Plus, kids.

I caught up on reading webcomics last night, and I ended up really pissed at Spinnerette.

The last chapter was Spinny trapped in a dream world. In the end she breaks out, and finds herself with a teenage boy in his basement. She smacks him around a bit for being a perv, but then just lets him off the hook saying that it will all be okay if he gets a girlfriend. Not even a threat that she's going to check in on him. That's fucked up. This guy kidnapped her, probed into her mind, controlled her thoughts, and she just walks away telling him to stop being creepy and get a girlfriend. What the hell? This is not okay. She should be pressing charges. This boy needs to be evaluated by a mental health professional, to determine if he needs counseling, or to be locked up. Telling him to go find another victim is the last thing that should be happening.

I read the ending to the most recent chapter last night, and I'm still fuming over it. When I calm down I think I'm going to email the author and let him have a piece of my mind.

I stopped reading that comic after evil Spinnerette kissed a semiconscious Spinnerette while her minions recorded it for the world to see. I miss Kraków.

It's apparent that the Spinny-verse's legal system has different levels for superheros or at least junior and adult courts. Evil Spinnerette got off almost scott free despite trying to KILL someone... is there any reason to believe Delta would have been convicted of anything with even less evidence of his wrong doing? Are there laws on the books for this kind of thing?

Is this how I'd have handled it? Probably not... she really should have done more to explain why this kind of stuff isn't okay and Delta could have repented quite a bit more for what happened if he wasn't planning on it turning into... that. Maybe we'll see him in a later issue and he'll have turned his life around? Who knows. But the ending is kind of fucked up, unless the author is secretly trying to show us that Spinny has bad views on relationships too.

Yeah. It should have at least ended with a shot of Hostess Twinkies or something.

So Shortpacked ended today and it's really bad. Not that the comic ended but how it did. Instead of ending the comic on a high note, Willis went for a Gainax ending, sort of. It felt uninspired like something he came up to have some sort of ending he don't have to put effort in. It's sad but shows that his priorities lies now with Dumbing of Age.

It was a "soft" ending, but it was like that when Roomies! became It's Walky!. Granted, this is the ending of the Walkyverse, but I guess since Dumbing of Age is in full swing, it's not like we're saying goodbye to any of the characters except some of the kids.

From his post, it sounds like he'd always planned to end it this way, too.

On the other hand, I have no idea what else he could have done except end it with the wedding, which probably would've been better. It's not like anything memorable has happened since then.
