What are you playing?

What's the motion like in VR? Smooth or janky? Looks like teleporting, which seems to me in this instance to be the wrong way of doing it in this game.

Terrik and I turned on teleporting because we get motion sick. But you can use smooth motion.

Also the teleport distance is really small, so it's not like you can just jump across the house.

What she said. The options are actually fairly robust, but IMO they're set incorrectly as their defaults. It takes a little config and trial to get things to behave how I think they should behave. For example, the default motion controls use the direction the controller is pointing as "forward," and I switched that to the direction the headset is facing, and it became much nicer to control. Also Dei said there was something about VR smoothing that needed to be turned off, but I didn't see that in my options.

Also, I wish there was a "seated gaming mode" like there is in Killing Floor: Incursion. We all game sitting down so our characters all look like they're crouching at all times. But that's a minor annoyance at worst.

Fuck you :p

(Also, I'm pretty sure you can adjust your z-axis in your steamVR settings to make your floor lower.)

Did anyone here ever play Stellaris? My cousin adores this game and has about as much time on it as I do on Monster Hunter. I bought it a while ago and I tried to play it and it made no sense to me. With my new PC, I installed it again with when I set up Steam again and I still don't get it.

I'm not playing anything, but I did buy a little wireless keyboard/trackpad thing to plug into my Steam Link, which makes launching things on other platforms pretty smooth. I haven't had a lot of luck using the controllers when playing things in the Epic store or whatever, so it will at least let me run some less twitchy games on the TV.

I dug out my steam link this morning because my step son is here and we all wanted to play stuff on the big tv in the basement. Still works pretty dang good.

I have Stellaris in my gaming queue, but who knows if I'll ever get to it.
I think the consensus is that if you liked MoO and CivIV, the game to get is Sins of a Solar Empire.

SoSE is indeed good. I still prefer the trinity version to the rebellion version, though.

So catching up on on all this. I have 4 VR headsets including the Samsung Gear VR, Playstation 4 VR, Lenovo Windows Mixed Reality VR, and the HTC Vive VR with 3 motions trackers and two index controllers.I also have a Kinect2.0 and Leapmotion tracker.
So far the best experience has been with the Vive Headset, index controllers, and the 3 trackers in VRChat. you tend to find both great worlds including gamesand such as well as shit worlds that make you want to gouge your eyes out. For a good workout Beatsaber is a go to. If you want to hear screaming children, RecRoom is ok. The best vertigo inducing experience will be an early game called Windlands. Ifyou are looking for some objective fun multiplayer gameswith friends, Phasmaphobia is a great one.

I will stick with VRChat because you find games inside it, a social platform, movie nights, drinking games, etc. It's a good go to if you find the right groups to hang with. Otherwise....

I've gotten back into the main FF14 story after some diversions over the last while. I can't tell you how THRILLED I am to be dealing with Zenos again after an actual engaging villain like Emet-Selch. Just thrilled. So happy.

This is just a diversion itself. You still have quite a bit of the Shadowbringers content to finish. We don't get the prelude to the next expansion until December.

Not that kind of gore porn. I remember it being used to describe stuff like over-the-top gory movies, where the only draw is how many total gallons of blood and fake entrails were used during filming.
I've only ever heard that described as a "splatter" film.

Ok, new question. Am I the only one who's ever heard of "gorn" being used in the context of "gore porn"?

(And, as has been rightfully pointed out, a Star Trek species.)
