They're making a free expansion for FTL to be released next year.

Also, in the thread there, I learned about something I've wanted a long time - an infinite exploration mod for FTL. No rebel fleet chasing you, no uberboss waiting at the end.. because no end. Explore forever, new tech, new enemy ships and events, and minibosses.
