[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

Womb (2011)

I just saw this listed on (Canadian) Netflix. 2-year old movie, but I'd only just heard of it. Stars Matt Smith of Doctor Who fame, so I was intrigued. As per my usual M.O. when coming across an unknown movie on Netflix, I looked up the trailer, first.

And yeah, that's about all I want to see of this movie. The trailer just made me go...

Unless the next three films are a complete reboot, and make Sentinel Prime NOT evil I as well ain't getting hope for a sequel. I don't care IF Grimlock may be in the fourth one, I'll stick with the original cartoon.

This isn't a trailer, but I didn't know where else to put it.

No . . . just no!
'It's a Wonderful Life' Sequel Coming in 2015
From the article:

an angel who shows George Bailey's grandson (also named George Bailey) how much better off the world would have been had he never been born.
I wonder if they realize this has been the punchline of parodies.

The article also seems to ignore the "if you'd never been born" part was only an iconic 10 to 15 minutes or so of a 2 hour and 11 minute movie. But then, so do most people.

It sounds kinda like one of those parody sequels like Gremlins 2, or Texas Chainsaw Massacre two. However while both those films were made not long after the originals, this one will be made SIXTY SEVEN FREAKIN' YEARS LATER!

Gremlins 2 was by the same director though, and was essentially his "fuck you" to studios that mandate sequels.

And it's glorious.

I'm not saying its bad I freakin' loved it, just that it was a parody sequel. Did not know thats why he made it like that though, makes it even more hilarious.

I love both Gremlins movies equally, but for totally different reasons. The first, in terms of story and overall quality, I'd say is better. The second is just totally, off-the-wall bonkers in every imaginable way. And I LOVE it.[DOUBLEPOST=1384914925,1384914874][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, there's been talk of a new Gremlins movie in the last few years. If it gets made, they better stick with practical goddamn effects. No CGI bull, unless it's to enhance the practical effects.

Agreed, the world needs more freaking puppets in theaters dammit! The muppets can only sate this one so much.
I think it's a damn shame that hollywood relies so much on CGI to bring us amazing creatures. It's like it's a chore for them to create something absolutely amazing. Well here's news to you, Hollywood. Jim Henson made two damn freakingly beautiful movies where pretty much everything in them were puppets and practical effects. I can sit my kids down to watch Dark Crystal and tell them "This is how you prove to the world you really cared about your movie."

What's nice is that every once in a while a modern director gets it.
Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Cabin in the Woods

I guess Attack the Block doesn't really count, but if you watch the behind the scenes features you can see how much they did as practical effects before they added some of the CG elements.
And if you guys haven't seen Attack the Block yet you are absolutely missing out.

Last few years = since the mid-90s. A few years ago Joe Dante was officially off the potential director list because he refused to go CGI on the Gremlins. Despite that, the project hasn't moved from development hell and maybe never will.

Speaking of development hell, anyone else worried about the Dark Crystal sequel? Thats been passed off to numerous directors over the years, if it DOES come out of hiatus I worry about its quality.

Sadly I don't think that anyone would ever allow what Jim Henson did with the first to ever happen again. I think I heard it would be a CGI film, and to that I say "why bother?" The first was beautiful and took amazing effort to not only get amazing creatures and locations in it, but to figure out how to actually accomplish it. CGI they only ever have to worry about the first part nowadays.

Yes, but they called it a hiatus so I can be in complete denial about it and pretend that its going to happen!

Dear LORD this looks good. I also like that they worked in the line from the episode where Mr. Peabody adopted Sherman, freakin' awesome.

Amazing Spider-Man 2

I didn't hate or love the first one, but I dug it enough that I'm excited for this one. I'm not a big fan of Rhino being a walking mech, but I could see it working in the movie here. Rhino's my favourite Spidey villain, so I prefer him just being a huge dude in a stupid-looking suit. But I'll take what I can get.

I'm a spidey fan like you're a Supes fan, and the first rubbed me the wrong way for the same kinds of reasons MoS rubbed you the wrong way. This guy just wasn't Spider-man

I kind of liked it. And I'm fairly excited about this one, although my geek movie-watching buddy is leaving for the Army on the 30th and he won't be here to watch it with me.

I thought he was more believable as Peter Parker than Toby McGuire was, at least. But then, I didn't like McGuire.
Wow I thought he nailed it to a tee. When the 2001 movie came out, I was like, "see?!? See people?!? That's what you've been missing when you poo poo comics!!"[DOUBLEPOST=1386256659,1386256621][/DOUBLEPOST]Assuming of course 3 never happened.

That's because Toby McGuire has less range than a potato. In Seabicuit the horse showed more emotion. It really doesn't help that the Rami movies themselves weren't that great either.

Oh here's a photo I found from one Toby McGuire's earliest roles:
