Brofist because of how far you've come.http://nickpiers.wordpress.com/2014/01/12/bump-in-the-road-part-3-no-other-way-out/
I don't know how many of you have been following my multi-part article detailing my attempts to get into wrestling school, but well, this one's a doozy. This one's still wrestling related, but it has a lot more to do with arguably my lowest point in life: my major suicide attempt in 2000.
Given how I've been the last few months, not as far as I'd like.Brofist because of how far you've come.
I'm about to say something cliche as hell, but it's something I say to myself a lot, and I at least feel it helps.Given how I've been the last few months, not as far as I'd like.
As a grad student at a college affiliated w/U of S... I think I may know a guy (another student) who was involved in all that planning re-org stuff. Want his info? He's a bit of a pompus puffed-up twit sometimes, but he does have a tendency to know about governance things. He also may be totally useless.Sooooo... I work in the scholarships department of the College of Graduate Studies & Research at the University of Saskatchwan*. In an attempt to save money, the university is recommending that we become an administrative unit rather than a college. OK, not a problem, I can live with that. However, in all the reports that are coming out detailing what is going to change, nothing is being specifically said about my department. Programs - yep; convocation - yep; admissions - yep; scholarships - big ol' nope.
So, U of S, tell me, am I going to have a job next year? Have the administrators, in their wisdom, even considered what's going to happen to us? Why am I bothering to come to work in the morning?
Remember, the more I know, the less likely I'm going to go on a rampage. This is for your own good.
*Yes, I realize that you can fine me now. Go for it. I could use a shoulder to cry on. You can stay in my barn.
We're going through similar restructuring at my University. The faculty and staff here are...rankled.Sooooo... Well that should have tipped them off in the first place.... for an American."
Well, you know how polite and trusting Canadians are.Well that should have tipped them off in the first place.
We're sorry about that.Well, you know how polite and trusting Canadians are.
No dice. Unless I go to professors individually and ask for them to let me in, there's nothing that can be done at this point. I managed to get into one class I originally had signed up for, plus two evening courses that still fit degree requirements. It still puts me behind in getting programming classes, but I wasn't looking forward to taking one of those online anyway. I should be able to get an in-person class for those next semester, if I don't take something over the summer.I was always pretty sympathetic with overrides. But they were first-come-first-served. Tell your tale of woe and hope for the best.
indeed. Was just wondering how North_Ranger would be responding to some of these posts lately.
. . . is that what the kids are calling it these days?Does somebody need a weaselin'?
Sort of? It's a long story. It's like someone is running a three year practical joke on me, and today the punchline hit. Which, I guess, is sort of impressive.Does somebody need a weaselin'?
Neither, I'm being a bit facetious. A problem/debate that was brought up 3 years ago at this job, when I was not managing the project but involved in its formation nonetheless, has re-emerged, only now the nature of what we're doing is different, and I'm arguing against the same things I fought for 3 years ago, and my boss is -without significant understanding- making decisions counter to what makes sense. If it was genuinely funny, kudos to them. If it was mean spirited, they can fuck right off.
Which was it?
Sounds like he definitely needs a weaselin' and I've got just the weasel for it.
@Bubble181, I love you. You will be spared The Scampering.[DOUBLEPOST=1390314619,1390314576][/DOUBLEPOST]
Would you like a job as my right-hand gal? The job comes with a snazzy uniform and your choice of doomweasel. So, this is the picture of Canada's dystopic future once Emrys is queen and rules the provinces with an iron fist and her doomweasel enforcers?
They only have themselves to blame. They had the chance to keep her distracted and placated at her University job, but noOOOOoooo!

...Can I get a snazzy uniform too?
Needs more gold trim. And the hat should be bigger. And the mace should be a sword.
