Minor victory thread

I got matched to a girl on tinder who wasn't a bot. There ARE real people on there. She was wearing a Mad Caddies hat in one photo and soaked in fake blood from Evil Dead the Musical in another. DREAM WOMAN. We chatted for about 4 hours last night.

Wednesday I went out on my first date in a decade. A friend of mine set me up with her sister, and we went out to lunch. I didn't think we clicked, I guess she's not my type, but I had a pleasant enough time.
Similar experience with the girl I went out with on Friday. She seems sweet enough and we have similar tastes in comedies at least, but I got the very distinct impression I'm way too nerdy for her, and we couldn't be more opposite on certain things, some of which are pretty big things.

Still a victory though because I haven't EVER truly been on a date before, always just sort of accidentally started dating people I knew. And I managed to not make a complete dork of myself.

Deck is 90% done.

Game room stuff (dart board, pool table, air hocky) starts coming Tuesday.

Now I need to get me a bar and some stools down there, and a little something like this for the reading area:
and the downstairs will be pretty much complete.
We watched a bolshevik propaganda film in our WWII history course in college that had a sweet liquor table. It looks like a normal end table when closed. The top is made of two leaves (think cabinet door) that open out and as they open the liquor tray rises from the inside until it reaches the height of the opening and locks in place. I don't know if I explained it well. I wish I could find that movie. I don't remember what it was called, but it was full of labor rights/highlighting the Workers.

That sounds nifty. We were looking at something like this to go down there too. Similar concept of a normal looking table transforming into liquory goodness. It's a bit pricey, so it'll have to wait, whereas the globe is more immediately affordable, and they will both look good together.

I'm starting to kind of like drawing again.
My 4th year of animation school made me face the harsh reality that I'm just not that good, and my brief stint working in the animation industry reaffirmed that and since then everytime I start drawing I get really stressed out- I start to get basically PTSD flashbacks, and it's been awful because once upon a time drawing was my sole stress-reliever. This year I've taken it upon myself to re-invest in my webhosting again- so my website is back up. And I've been drawing comic strips that directly deal with the causes of my stress- hanging a lampshade on my anxieties and insecurities, and it's only been a couple of days but already, I'm coming home from work actually totally jazzed to pick up my stylus again and do more. Hopefully I can transition these little comics into actual finished pieces again, and maybe not feel like the odd one out anymore whenever I get together with my friends from college who are all so much more talented than I and who are all working successfully in the gaming and animation industries. But, baby steps for now.

Man, the way I see it, drawing is one of those skills where natural talent just gives you a head start. I'm always curious about everyone's art, so I look forward to seeing it.

On another note, since I joined Tumblr, I dropped paid webhosting. There's pretty much nothing you can't make Tumblr do if you have coding skills, and it's free.

I have a tumblr too, and that's where these comics are going. But paying for the webhosting gives me financial incentive to get back to the drawing table, and I found out just a few months ago I still owned the domain so I figured I should do something with it.. It is a similar tactic to what I am taking for my fitness: I am not shaving, as punishment for getting so fat, so that I have incentive to lose the 20lbs (Down almost 14 so far).
