So, my new book finally drops sometime today, according to my publisher. Ordinarily, I'd be happy about this.
Except how it's been handled pisses me off. There's been a complete lack of communication about when it was coming out. When I asked, I'd get half answers that'd side-shift the question. So I'm only finding out the day of its release, giving me no time to do even a little bit of pre-hype.
Secondly, it's technically on Amazon now. Don't look it up. It may not stay up there because of weird technical things with Amazon. But this is the first time I'm seeing the final cover and back copy. They never sent me the final copy for me to look over. Know why that's a problem? Because they changed the back copy for the book's description. It's not in first person as I'd written it - even though the back copy of the first book is in first person. And there are things in it that need editing, like a line that says "bring him into consult" when it should read "in to consult." It might be a minor thing, but that's a BIG spelling error that I personally would never have knowingly made. Hell, I just checked what I'd originally written and it WAS "in to," not "into."
The fact that I wasn't even given a chance to check this at all pisses me the hell off. This is pissing all over the book release that I've been hyping up for months.
*sigh* And worse, I'm stuck at work all day when it actually officially drops, so I can't even do anything to promote it on its first day because I didn't know when it was dropping until the day of its release.
