What are you playing?

It's the OB-GYN droid from RotS. It said something like oomp-pa.
Oh god, now I'm remembering some nutjob on TFN.net going on about how that droid was following a secret program by Palpatine to drug Padme to death (sedatives, paralytics, etc) in order to ensure Anakin's loyalty.

Fandom gets weird.

Civilization VI tomorrow...
My father-in-law asked about this at dinner last night.
"What's this game I'm seeing commercials for on the History Channel? You start off with a city and you have to build it up?"
"Oh, that's probably CivVI. It's coming out really soon."

Civilization VI tomorrow...

Still in doubt....I want to play it, but o nthe other hand, I probably should wait for a sale, maybe not on sale at Christmas yet, or 10%, but next spring it'll definitely be cheaper....but.....I wanna....but...I never pre-order or buy first day....but....Gah!

I'm loaded and ready.

About the only thing that interests me about Civ VI is the supposedly sped up gameplay. I almost always get bored and start over before I even finish a game because of the slog.

Building the rocket to end the game is going REALLY slow... and the encroaching zerg hives have started getting a LOT tougher... twice now I've had to retreat to repair my tank, which had never happened previously. I'm still managing to hold them at bay for the most part, there have been no breaches of my perimeter wall, but I've exhausted the iron and petroleum resources within my walls and have started to have to build satellite outposts out on other resource piles - ones that are much closer to the hostile life forms. As yet they haven't been attacked (the creatures seem to charge toward wherever is creating the most pollution, which is my main base), but if two different outposts start getting attacked at the same time, I'll have to make a choice about which one I rush to save, and which one I let the monsters eat. The petroleum outpost will be especially tricky - I haven't built it yet because it's literally surrounded by 7 nests I'll have to clear out before I can even start building... and as I said... that's getting to be a difficult task. I might have to slowly extend a line of fortified turrets in that direction just to make headway.

And the turrets themselves pose another difficult choice - regular turrets don't need electricity (for some reason) but they fire conventional ammunition which must be manufactured and replenished - most likely by hand, the farther they get from my manufactoria. The alternative is laser turrets, but those take huge amounts of electricity, which means I have to build more power plants, which causes more pollution, causing even further agitation among the zerg, provoking them to attack.

So even though it's the home stretch, it's slow and tense.

I remember when my husband and I were playing we starting building massive solar farms to cut down pollution, but I think I also remember him recently complaining about how they changed batteries.

Do you have a good rail system set up?

IV? or VI?
(I honestly don't know, I haven't played anything newer than III)

Actually, so far I have been finding resources close enough to not need a rail system. That will change with this petroleum outpost, though. It's too far to rely on a conveyor, but still short enough to where a railway feels a little overkill. But Imma have to use a railway annyway.

I've set up quite a bit of solar as well, but it takes 10 solar panels to match the output of one steam engine, and space is at a premium because the ultralisks are starting to try to hit me on all sides. Soon, though, I hope to be able to shut down my research lines, which will reduce my manufacturing requirements. I've got the inserters taking care of my stuff rigged to the logistic network so that they'll stop grabbing and moving stuff when the logistic network has a given level of each component.

I did kinda go way overboard on logistic drone bots though... seems most times I have about 100 of them just sitting in the roboport doing nothing. Welp, better to have and not need... right?

I tried playing Civ VI last night. My city building was so atrocious that I just quit playing after a few hours without ever saving (outside of auto saving)

I've heard that it's much more complex to build cities and that the interface and video aren't as good as V. Is this accurate or inaccurate? I don't want to waste my money on it so far.

More complex to build cities isn't bad, and I do find the interface a little annoying, but mostly because I'm still trying to figure out where everything is.

Japan declares war on me when they are 2 military levels behind me, completely out of nowhere. We were basically buds until he went all theocracy. So anyways, he takes advantage of open borders to surround my city fortified with musketmen with his war chariots (?!?!?!?!), so I proceed to school him and take one of his cities. (I am playing on a pretty easy difficulty) I keep trying to make peace and even offer his city back and he won't take it. Fine, w/e. But then I look at his relationship stats...

I gave in, bought it after selling some no longer used stuff on Kijiji. Promptly got my ass rushed and handed to me on Prince difficulty.

GMG has it at -20% off, so...I folded, too.

Can someone explai nto me why this game has a 4GB download? I mean, ok, efficient unpacking, sure, but...Civ V is 9GB, Beyond Earth over 10!

Beyond Earth had a bunch of unneeded baggage? Honest answer no idea. I'm too pissed off at Spain at the moment for forward settling my capital then bitching at me that my units are too close....

Well, you are Always shooting Terrik. That certainly sounds like the actions of a Warmonger to me.
