What are you playing?

At the final boss for Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel. It is a brief DLC, though fun to explore and definitely some nice armor and weapons. I'm enjoying my new claws for dex, although the strength weapons I've found look incredible.

But it's really, really brief. I'm glad I got the season pass so it was technically cheaper, but there's really only 2.5 bosses; the .5 being just a tough NPC. While I'm happy this means that the second DLC can explore another location, it's kinda sad considering what an unsettling journey the Bloodborne DLC was, or the focused and interesting quest in Dark Souls. This was more on par with Crown of the Ivory King in length.

Lore wise
It does give insight into some of the Londor elements, especially if your character is on that path through Yuria.

Hoping the next and final DLC will answer questions about other stuff that's gone on. I'll beat the final boss tomorrow. True to form, I almost won on the first try, and then couldn't get past the first phase on subsequent tries. Go me.

I got the car finally ALL PUT TOGETHER (I think), and so I went to the store to buy more food, brake fluid, coolant, oil, etc... and on my way back....

That's over NINE HOURS down the tube >_<

What the fuck was that game? Looked pretty lame to invest 9 hours.
The one I've been talking about in this thread the last couple pages. "My Summer Car." AKA, Finland Simulator 2016.

And 9 hours is pretty good to assemble an entire car from parts when you have no idea what you're doing, IMO :p

I started My Summer Car over (no permadeath this time) and had an... eventful first hour. I'm thinking I'll put it all together into a video. I just wish I'd recorded it in high quality, as making videos from my twitch stream is a recipe for visual ewblech.

Long story short, I discovered speedtraps/DUI checkpoints, vehicular homicide, multiple car pileups, and the advantages of living out in the boonies where not even the cops can find your house.

Sounds like some of your fantasies come to life, eh?

Not sure it's worth it, though. Pastoral though it may be, 90s Finnish life has some serious drawbacks.

1) Only source of income is chopping firewood or draining septic tanks
2) Serious mosquito problem
3) Unbelievable percentage of roads being single lane and unpaved
4) No women anywhere of any description. Everyone in Finland is apparently male, burly and bearded
5) Socialism makes everything ridiculously overpriced. $325 for a fan belt, people!
6) 100 kph speed limit, heavy fines for going over at all
7) Two whole radio stations, with terrible, terrible programming.
and worst of all -
8) Internet? What internet?

Thea the Awakening is a pretty interesting take on 4X. Wholeheartedly recommend it for a good 20-40 hours of play.

Took a break from Stardew Valley to fire up Dishonored again. Going for high chaos this time, in which I slaughter everyone I see.

Stealthily killing people is fun. Especially when sometimes other guards will comment on people going missing. Still though, I can't shake the feeling that low chaos is meant to be the "right" way to play, what with the game throwing all these different options for non-lethal completion and the arguably better rewards for sparing people's lives.

Hitman has programmed you. That "silent assassin" ranking is rotgut. Kill everyone. There are no witnesses if there are no survivors!

Too true. I rescued Emily, and she was all like, "Let's go, if anyone tries to stop us, you can fight them!" And I was all like, "There's no one left to stop us. I've depopulated this entire district."

Tyranny, a new Obsidian RPG where you play as a judge/overseer of an evil empire that has conquered the world.

This game is fucking awesome so far.

Crypt of the Necrodancer is more difficult than I thought. It's fun, but it's so easy to die fast.

Starting up Chrono Trigger for the first time in years was a shot of much-needed joy into my system. I just let it idle on the west side of the Guardia world map, where the music becomes quiet and wistful, maybe even a little sad, promising the adventure that's soon to come while reveling in the innocence of those early moments when you have no idea what you're in for. I know this game in and out, so it's very hard to break patterns and immerse myself in an area rather than do everything super-efficiently, but I want to enjoy this.

Which means I had to make a mistake this time.

I stole the lunch.

I have to admit, after spending awhile watching Gas play My Finnish Summer, I get the appeal.
YOU FUCKING WATCHED?!

(What he watched)

I got the car working! And then I rolled it because I didn't get the alignment perfect. Barely managed to turn it over and limp home with my busted doors. Repairs on those are gonna be 500 bucks a pop >_< ouch. I pumped a bunch of septic tanks for money. Repairing the Setsuma's bodywork alone is gonna cost almost 7000. Oigh. That's a lot of poop I'm gonna have to haul. 7000 liters today got me almost 4000, after expenses (diesel ain't cheap in Finland).

YOU FUCKING WATCHED?!
Yep, and some of my comments show up in the chat replay, though I didn't say a whole lot. For instance, around 4:43:00...

AshburnerX : This man waiting to come home has been replaced with a wooden dummy in his likeness. Lets see if anyone notices.
I also mentioned how your vehicle was filled with deadly methane and it wasn't because of the shit. It was because your diet is nothing but beer and uncooked, gas station sausages.

I've been playing Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition

On one hand, it's the same game. Old save files transfer over with no problems. The combat feels the same. It's the same solid framework, just with relatively minor tweaks.

On the other hand, it's really great to have an old favorite get continued patching. There have been 4 further patches since the Anniversary Edition came out. There are small new things being added, balance continues to be tweaked, bugs are being fixed. It's fantastic.

There are a few cosmetic tweaks as well. I'm not sure all of what's been done, but I noticed that there are improved fog effects in some of the swamps. There seem to be minor tweaks to particle effects and such elsewhere as well.

I feel like every part of Chrono Trigger is a part I love. So many great moments, one after another.

... except running circles in that goddamn room. I can never get it to work right on the first try. Or the second. And so on. I don't know why it's always so hard for me to perform that motion, but the door screws me up.

I think the one bit of the game I always got tired of was going back and forth to fix the ruined tomb in the last chunk of the game before the final Lavos confrontation. It's a huge pain, but Frog's damage goes fucking bonkers with the true Masamune and a Hero Badge.

e: I should point out that I do like the idea of the quest, and it's great backstory for Frog, it's just such a chore to pop back and forth to make the carpenter finish fixing the place.

That part was dumb, but I still really enjoyed the backstory scenes and I usually didn't do it all at once because up until the last time I played, I don't think I knew you could do it all at once. I would always fly off to do another side quest and then come back and do the next part of the ruin. Made it less tedious.

My wife bought Skyrim Special Edition for PS4 this week and seeing her have so much fun with even those limited mods made me antsy. I got Skyrim Legendary on PC, so now I can do mods too.

I'm probably not going to get to play tonight because this is so beautiful. I got SkyUI. Sounds of Skyrim is just ... incredible.

Last time I played Skyrim, I modded myself into owning a Spa resort outside Whiterun and ended up building a harem that that lived there 24/7 consisting of all the attractive women in the game. And I was all "fuck the main quest, this game is now Love Hina 3D." And Lydia looked like this. And I still ended up marrying Kasumi from Dead or Alive.

Modding is what Skyrim is all about. MOD IT TIL IT CRASHES.

One of my favorite mods. Wyla Jarskarvir became my waifu, but I built a harem of Skyrim girls too.

That actually sounds like a way better version of Skyrim
