Random Video Game Crap

...The former ride operator in me would say, "no way they could run multiple trains on that ride. And half the doors wouldn't be usable IRL. And oh my GOD, how much land area would then NEED for that thing? A 14-minute RIDE? No way they'd be able to make up the profit on that."

The exact same things were going through my mind. As much as I loved this as an artistic creation in a video game, a part of me was always thing "well, this is never going to be done in real life... How long is the longest Disney ride anyway?" (Carousel of Progress, at about 20 minutes, but that's a very different beast. This is more Splash Mountain, which is ~11 minutes. Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain are both well under 4 minutes long).

I wonder how much of the extravagant use of space was because it was the easiest way to make the ride, and how much was due to limitations of the game engine/interface. Also, I'm assuming that Planet Coaster doesn't count ride queue theming as part of the ride. A lot of that coaster's theme elements would be taken care of in the walk in to the cars at a Disney park, getting to the action quicker once you were actually on the ride.

It actually does care about ride queue theming as a function of how willing people are to wait in line.

Yeah, but if you're making a cool first-person video of the ride to put on the internet to show the whole experience, does it walk you through the queue first?

One of the things you have to remember is that because of in game limitation, a lot of custom built things are really big, so that breeds a lot of empty space.

Thanks for pitching in and doing Gas' job while he's out.

I have never heard of this FURI, I am now intrigued.
(watches the trailer)

Holy Hell, that gameplay looks punishing!

Furi is a boss rush game with brutal but fair mechanics. So if you like to git gud, it's a good game.[DOUBLEPOST=1515531985,1515531842][/DOUBLEPOST]
Pretty little wallhangers.
I've never understood the contempt that comes from some people and so called 'wall hangers' (note, I'm not saying this is from you, there's not enough in your post to tell if there's contempt or not, just in general)

I've had a friend look at things I've bought before and mention "You know those are just wall hangers." What the fuck do you think I'm going to do with them, fight off feudal samurai?

I have a thing against wall hangers, but mainly it's about wall hangers that are obviously poseurs. It's one thing to be actually artsy, and another to be utterly useless and baroque.

As opposed to being useful for practicing swordplay with. Basically a wall hanger is a sword that's pretty but not suitable for martial arts practice or stage combat. They're usually made of some type of stainless steel, as opposed to carbon steel, and not balanced for use.

For example: those above are probably made from 440C stainless with a special treatment. If you hit or twist the blade, it is likely to snap.

This, which is effectively the same as a sword I own, is made from 1065 high carbon steel and is meant for practice and stage combat. https://www.reliks.com/functional-european-swords/practical-knightly-sword/

They're rainbow colored. It'd be kinda stupid to mar a pretty finish like that by smacking it around against another sword.

EDIT: And I just now realized I posted that sword pic in the random video game crap thread, not general random crap thread.

Talking Classics with Keith Apicary is one of my favorite things. Episodes are slowly being re-released on Nathan Barnatt's youtube channel as they age off their license with the previous distributor, and one of my favorites just came up - the episode that focuses on his little sister, Kelly. It's cringe-adorable.
