What are you playing?

I mean, Terrik and Snuffles are scared of the ghost, I'm scared of dying and losing 100s of dollars, and you have nothing to lose.
I still DO get frustrated at dying because that means I don't get to advance to the point where I HAVE something to lose.

I bought a controller to use for PC but that's as far as I'll go until there is actually something to play on the console. Controller is VERY nice BTW, interested to try it with the haptic feedback and new vibration.

Super Metroid and A Link to the Past Crossover Randomizer

I saw that this randomizer added the ability to choose different sprites for Link and Samus, so I had to give it another run. This is a lot of fun, but it can be a real challenge and my run was an exhausting 9 hours. I'm still amazed that this crossover works.

This has got me thinking, once again, that Nintendo needs to make their own Zelda randomizer, call it Zelda: Dungeons of Chaos or something.

What little I played with wasn't buggy, though admittedly not much, My gtx 1050 ti isn't gonna be able to run this past some dragon age2 or witcher 2 level graphics. I'm patient, so I have that going for me.

played cyberpunk 2077 for about 3 hours. I'm getting serious deja vu, like maybe I played a demo a while back.
But I looked online, and there was no demo.

Kinda strange.

Edit: Figured it out...my deja vu's coming from this old video from 2018:

I played up until you're dropped off at home. I dunno, this is what I was expecting so far. So no disappointment here.

Just encountered my first game breaking bug in Cyberpunk. After dying and reloading there is this popup in the left corner of the screen, informing me of an "assault in progress" Cant talk to people while this is active. It is active on ALL my previous saves too. Have to start a new character.

have you tried closing the game down completely and reloading from a fresh start?

I've experienced one freeze-up in combat. And one time I got stuck in "scan mode" because I hit tab right as the transition to a cut-scene happened. Other than that, it's been pretty smooth sailing.

Control

Or maybe an hour of it. I have absolutely no fucking clue what's going on and the game isn't explaining things very well. Who is this main character? Why is she suddenly being called Director by people she just met and why are they trusting her with all of this?

Plus, so far the game play is boring as fuck. I'm sure it gets more interesting with more abilities but so far, it's just incredibly boring gun play.

I don't know. I don't know if I'll refund it yet but it really isn't what I was expecting. I saw so many people raving about this when it came out and I don't see that game.

I love Control but the first hour or two do it absolutely no justice by being incredibly boring in its gameplay. It does get better, but I do not fault anyone who doesn't want to stick around long enough for it to do so.

Yeah, I got as far as throwing objects and unlocking something about a phone line but that didn't do anything for me, gameplay-wise. The telekinesis is mildly fun, but so far, this really isn't doing it for me. Which is a shame because I liked Alan Wake and (eventually) liked Quantum Break.

I'm really hoping Steam refunds this for me. I have 3 hours in... their policy is 2...

Worth a shot. I've successfully refunded a few games that were over the 2 hour mark. I'm still on the fence on refunding this. I WANT to like it, but I don't know if I like it enough to push through past the refund period

Yakuza 0

I'd tried this before and lost patience with it very quickly. But I saw it talked about elsewhere recently, so I thought maybe I'd give a second chance. Unfortunately, it gained several strikes early into "playing" it.

Strike 1: After hitting "Start Game," it takes over 20 minutes of cutscenes before I even need to use the controller.
Strike 2: I basically walk five feet, do a short battle, then it's another 5-10 minutes of cut scenes.
Strike 3: I have to follow an NPC, who walks at a pace even a snail would say "Come on, dude!" Unlike literally every other game, where you can go at your own pace and the NPC follows you.

By the time I was at the mandatory first karaoke minigame, I was done. This series supposedly has a great story, but my controller is spending 90% of the time in my lap, then I'm going to lose interest fast.

Yakuza is an acquired taste.

Been playing Cyberpunk 2077 (just like most everyone these days of course). I'm not a huge FPS guy, but I'm liking this game.
I especially like that while it has a relatively linear story line, I can take a break from it and just roam the neighborhood going to crime hotspots, taking out bad guys, and generally just cleaning up my 'hood.

And doing so nets me xp, cash, and gear. So, it's similar to grinding in other RPGs, but I feel like it's more purposeful than killing random monsters in the wilderness to level up.

That's unfortunate to hear but I can fully understand how you feel. Yakuza 0 was also my first Yakuza game and I felt similar. The Yakuza games are known to be hard to get into at the start. The first two chapters have cutscene after cutscene and to top it off they are all in different styles. And you basically only go from point A to point B. However if you stick around and push through the threshold of the first two chapters the game will open up more. I fully recommend you play a bit more before you quit. Especially not before you have arrived in Osaka and play the second main charakter.

MHGU is so fun! I’m so glad that our son and I restarted. Both the solo and hub stuff is super fun.

I can’t wait until Rise and Stories 2 are here!

Frank's skinny on Cyberpunk.

Game runs like shit. I have a Ryzen 7 2700x and a GTX 2080 and it shouldn't be this way.

Main story is meeeeehh and the game's relationship with police is like THE LEAST Cyberpunky thing in the entire fucking universe. Seriously, the Codex writeup about NCPD excuses shitty cop behavior....it's gross. The sidequests are great though. Like really good. Some of that CDPR rep when it comes to good sidequests is at work here.

I honestly don't know why the game has a character creator. You spend nearly zero time ever looking at yourself. I think a few more voice changes would been FAR more preferable in my opinion.

The combat is pretty bad in my opinion. Very uncomfortable. I hated the shooting so much I made my character a melee build.

It's GOOD but it's a far cry from great. Maybe don't crush your employees lives out like roaches under a boot for 7 years next time. Think a lil smaller.

I've been watching a friend play and I have much less interest in playing the game than before it was released, and even then there wasn't much interest. I love FPS games and I love ones that give you a lot of character talent building options. Theoretically this should be a game with a lot for me to enjoy. Oddly enough I just don't have much draw to it. Sounds like that's not entirely a bad thing as I can save $60 until the game gets better or offers more. Not sure I need a game that thinks its for grown ups just because you can choose what your penis looks like but not what you sound like.
