[News] The USA Police State will never satisfy its lust for beating, gassing, and imprisoning minorities

"Well, obviously the problem is that those minority groups cited didn't have enough guns." - 2011 GasBandit
We'd all probably give wedgies to our past selves.

Oddly enough, 2021 Poe is a lot more pro gun than 2011 Poe was, mostly because they make it easier to seize the means of production.

I mean, I'm still pro-2nd amendment, and I don't think that banning guns is the answer.

But when the problem is systemic racism at all levels, supported by the demographic most likely to be heavily armed, the gun part of the argument is kind of moot - we already have more private guns than anybody else, more guns will not fix this problem, no matter where applied.

And unconnected to that, scales being out of balance is a problem, but there does come a point where just adding more weight to the other side just causes the scale to break.

You guys ever watch those tiktok videos where someone asks a question and a bunch of other people answer it? Saw one earlier for nurses, about something they wish was taught in nursing school, and one of the answers was "How to deal with so many elderly people admitting to outright murder on their deathbed." One of the spin-off answers to that was a nurse telling the story of an old white woman who was dying of COVID in Louisiana, who opened up to her that back in the 1930s she told her parents that a black boy touched her inappropriately, all because the boy's sisters had "nicer dresses" then she had. Her parents gathered a mob, beat the boy, lynched him, and cut off his genitals and she watched him die, before the mob burned down the boys family home, scaring off his surviving family. She told the nurse because she wanted to be forgiven before she died and was hallucinating the boy staring at her while on meds. I know that's not really fully police based (though they probably where there helping lynch in the 1930s south or at least did jack shit) but just felt relevant with this conversation. I don't know, maybe I am just so fucking angry that we still have not evolved past this shit. We need at least two more generational exchanges before we can hopefully get past this shit, and even then I am being optimistic.
And they are admitting it because they know it was wrong.

Cops were often complicit in lynchings. Remember the entire local white community knew about the violence. The police either looked the other way or actively joined the mobs. It is extremely difficult for white Southerners and Midwesterners to acknowledge the widespread racial violence because that would mean admitting that their great-grandpappy was a racist thug hiding behind a bedsheet. I've lived in Texas for the past decade and a lot of small town whites are raised to revere "their people," meaning their ancestors.

The MN one is a bit complicated. The pouches were made by Philando Castiles mom, she was just hoping to prevent the same thing that happened to her son to happen to someone else. But the obvious question is, why not just stop killing people?

Reading through this thread today from the beginning, I feel like Steinman was smart to delete his history.

I'm not going to comment on steinman because he's not here and there's no point, but I would have strong opinions and no longer feel any need to sit on them.

Oh course I say that after having just deleted like 5 paragraphs because ultimately it doesn't matter, he's not here to see it.

Oh, and also.
I want to point out that I'm not giving you (Frank) the YDTTA rating, I'm giving them the rating.

I actually didn't mean it as an attack on Steinman. There's a lot of takes back then a lot of today us should probably be embarrassed of, me included.

I still see posts by Steinman on Facebook, and while he doesn't post political there, he has been making face screens, then promoting masks, etc.
I genuinely wonder about his position on the election, etc. He'll never vote D, and I believe him when he said he voted this party last time, but I really wonder about his views on the R party, the election, and vaccines.
I probably wouldn't agree with him, but still. An intelligent voice on that side of the political spectrum is missing here, in my opinion

If he says he voted third party, I believe him, but I would bet anything that you put a gun to his head and said "vote for trump or biden" he wouldve voted trump. Because at the end of the day, him and trump align at least 95% on policy goals.

As far as having him back, if he's changed his beliefs in the past few years then great. But bigotry behind polite walls of text is still bigotry. I don't like bigots (and before you say some stupid bullshit about me being bigoted against bigots, consider doing literally anything else instead).

This piece of shit quit one of the most openly hostile to it's residents police forces in America because he was not allowed to drive fast all the time, had to report his use of force and was mad that there was oversight.

You KNOW he's not talking about city council reform, he's mad that anyone has any authority of the police at all.

He's pissed that this was deemed unacceptable:

That was my reading as well. This guy wants a Wild West, fast and loose with the law kind of system where he has unlimited leeway to "solve" problems.
