Weird weather

The snow. I know for Canadians the snow is probably no surprise, but I haven't had a proper winter since 2012 when I was living in Shenyang, and Erie averages over 100 inches of snow per Winter. So here we go.

My wife and I are going to focus on replacing the insulation of our house and possibly the windows going into the end of this month. We want to be more prepared just in case we get another freak Texas snow event like last year. We got lucky and our power never went out last time, but we ain't gonna take that good fortune for granted if it ever happens again.

Kentucky this morning:

As many as a hundred dead, and no estimate yet on the property damage or loss of pets/wildlife.

The town I used to live in in Kentucky (until we moved to Illinois this past summer) was untouched by the tornados, but towns around it were hit (one about 20 min east was heavily damaged too). It's a couple of hours north-east from Mayfield. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law still live that city - they said they lost power for about 12 hours, but were otherwise fine.

We got the wind here last night. Made for some interesting times this morning as people discovered their Christmas decorations were now three blocks over...

It has been raining since sometime early this morning - about six or seven hours ago as I type this.

It's a good thing most of the people in the Valley don't have to go anywhere (other than church or to a relative's house) today.

It is 80 degrees here in the Piney Woods. Will likely be as hot tomorrow.

I feel bad, I left my heater on last weekend while I was away. It was 79 in the house when I got back.

Today I saw a lot of bugs flying around the house outside. We need a good mosquito killing event soon.

I'm just glad it's not snow. I think we're already over two inches, but I obviously can't see my rain gauge at the moment (too dark).

:notes:They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on earth
But instead it just kept on raining

...yep, 47°F and raining. But it's making it feel like a cozy Christmas. And since I don't have to travel (I host) it's fine by me!

At least now I get another chance to Rain-X the car windows, which I'd been putting off! Silver lining, I guess. Impossibly thin, yes, but still silver.
