That was dramatic. Italy didn't deserve to move on. The last 20 minutes was great entertainment.
But how often will good goals be denied due to human incompetence? I think with today's day and age with the available technology they should allow teams to contest disallowed goals. That no-goal will be the talk of the tournie, or at the very least, the talk of some countries for the next 4 years.

if you look between the legs you can see the ball and that it's still above the line, maybe because of the angle that isn't really proof but I still think that it was a good call too

yes but in hockey there are like 6 good countries so a surprise is easier if the others don't bring their A game
if in football you have the top 6 countries that aren't preforming to their usual standards there are still 10 countries who will so it's a lot more difficult, I think you all hope to much on a miracle. Not that I don't want to see the USA do good but it is to soon, you can just get to the top without a solid background IMO.

yep it's there for a reason, now they could make sure it's easier to enforce with technical improvements but they shouldn't get rid of it.

Like I said, the refs can determine whether or not a player is cherry picking and then penalize him. The fact that that goal was illegal means theres a flaw in the rules.

Wait, you want to add MORE ref adjudication to the offside rule? Seriously, if the current offside rule has anything wrong, it's precisely how it leaves too much open to interpretation.
Sure, that was a nice goal, but you need to draw a line somewhere, and it's for the better that the line is clearly drawn.
