Coronavirus Thread

Your dying act is to cop a feel? That checks out.

I have reached the point where I kinda want Biden to be all, "Whaaaaaaat? I can't heeeeeeeear youuuuuu!", or better yet, say he'll send them once DeSantis goes on Fox News, issues an apology and takes some responsibility.

As Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and a senior adviser, said in a daily press briefing April 3: “The notion of the federal stockpile was, it’s supposed to be our stockpile. It’s not supposed to be states’ stockpiles that they then use.”

And like Dave said, thats the difference between the two parties. Biden will give them the ventilators because he knows if he doesn't, people will die.

How about if he just resigns?
I'd be ok with that.

We got the e-mail today from my son's school that they won't be following Abbot's orders, and will carry out mask mandates and such. Was a big relief for my wife, who told me three nights ago that if our son gets sick (and god forbid, dies) from COVID because the school couldn't do any type of mask mandates or other precautions, she had some, um, colorful plans for the state government. I laughed, but honestly looking into her eyes, I can't say whether she was joking or not. Glad that stress is behind us, at least for now.

Now if only we could, you know, curb the out of control spread we are dealing with, but god forbid we actually have another lockdown or do anything of value at this point.

Rand Paul is advocating against vaccines so that there will be more demand for a drug from a company his wife owns stock in.

SWLion is correct that his opinion is not automatically made wrong solely by virtue of being different than the Dr's statement. It is wrong entirely on its own merits (or lack thereof).

We don't deserve to lose the planet, we just deserve to lose about 46.9% of the population, which would also go a long ways towards reducing greenhouse emissions, overcrowding, etc.

Ok Thanos.

Ok Thanos.
The main issue with Thanos' view was that he was indiscriminate, and didn't include a lower birth rate to keep population down. Reducing overall population by about half would really solve a lot of problems if done correctly.
(to be clear, I'm not advocating for genocide on a never-before-seen-outside-of-Divine-action scale. As a thought experiment, though, it's a valid starting point)

Ok Thanos.
Hey, unlike Thanos, they're already doing it to themselves. The problem is the amount of collateral damage they are causing while doing so, like a suicidal person who jumps off a bridge and lands on a boat, killing not only himself, but also the three other people on the boat.

Just got notification that my company will be reinstituting its mask policy starting Monday, whether you're vaccinated or not.
Feel like the CDC really shit the bed with saying vaccinated people could stop masking. I mean, the heart was in the right place, but they should have realized that the minute they allowed any group to stop wearing masks then everyone was going to do it, anti-vax were going to just stop even on the chance they did sometimes, companies would stop doing mandates since they can't enforce half measures or know who is or is not vaxxed, etc. I understand the need to get back to normal, but I don't think anyone that has gotten the vax is going to be the one screaming about still having to wear a mask to the grocery store.

Yeah, we went back to doing it two weeks ago.
The last two months' worth of mask adventure has been like being on psych meds: "I felt fine so I stopped taking them" and now look what's happened.

Ok Thanos.
Back when the movies came out, I did some quick calculations/googling. Losing half the people in the US would put us back in about the 1970's in terms of population. Didn't really seem like that big of a deal--well, except, you know, the emotional cost, and well, the murdery bits.

If only we could have had some kind of warning something like this was going to happen. If only there had been some sort of leading indicator or other statistic that would have raised concern and encouraged us to prepare for this.

If only.

No-one could have seen this coming, really. Natural disasters, it's a shame. This is where the federal government has to step in with money and assistance right?
