One other thing I kind of want to mention, but does it seem like the states that lean one way seem to create the absolute most bat shit loons on the other side? I always knew California has a rather large republican base that is only drowned out by urban centers, but I feel like some of the worst republican offenders come out of states like California, New York, etc.

Little fact, but Kentucky has only been a mostly red state in the last decade. Before 1995 it was a heavily blue leaning state that sometimes flopped red during federal elections. Then they got Mitch McConnel, a person I consider one of the biggest partisan snakes in the entire system. Over time the whole state started to flip, either due to changes in attitude or other means. Funny enough, they still usually vote in a Democratic govenor, but everything else is now heavily red.

Am I the only one noticing this? Devin Nunes? Chris Christie? Rudy Giuliani? Michelle Bachmann? DONALD TRUMP?

Yes you of course have the outlier of nutty nuts in states that are already heavy red, like Steven King, but most I find to just be cowards for the most part. I am starting to think we need to do a study on the effects of people that consider themselves the underdog politically compared to the state they live in, and what that does to their overall political attitudes. Get into the counter-culture aspects over the last decade. Anyways, I should sleep.

Yeah, that's kind of a known fact. "Moderate" people in an area will gravitate towards the majority party - many of the people who are centrist Democrats in, say, California, might be leftist Republicans in Tennessee.

In my experience, Trump notwithstanding, New York republicans tend to be further left on social issues than the rest of the party.

To be honest, Christie only got in because his predecessor screwed up so royally. The state had be heavily blue for a while, then it came out that Gov. McGreevey was paying his secret gay lover with state funds. He resigned and gave Christie the election.

Got a phone call from a Firefighter's charity. I said, "Sure I'll give $25." But I was talking to a recording, so I waited for the human to come on & take my information. I asked her what the name of the group was.

Firefighters Alliance of America. PAC. Hol up. This a charity or a Political Action Committee? "It's a political action committee that lobbies for firefighter benefits." Fine. I go on their site while talking to her. One page says to vote for...Susan fucking Collins. Nope. Not gonna give you guys any money that might go to that reprehensible shill of a person. Have a nice day. *click*

This is a far too common trend, where phone solicitors use “Firemen” and “Police” to get you to donate to something that MIGHT eventually filter a tiny slice down to actual public safety workers.

This is a pretty specific rant to my area, but I can't fucking stand people who want to split Upstate and Western New York off from New York City. They always bitch and moan about people in the city getting priority (because something like 10 ventilators got sent there from Buffalo while they're in the worst coronavirus hotspot this side of wuhan while we still haven't reach hospital capacity). However, the amount of money New York City brings into the state government that gets funneled to us is massive, and an "Upstate New York" would be one of, if not the, poorest states in the country. But everyone is convinced the largest city in America is taking all the money from us because they dont have enough, never mind that just a few years ago there was a state program called the "Buffalo Billion" which did exactly as it sounds.*

*There were decent corruption issues but it still was a billion dollars of state taxpayer money that was funneled into building projects in Buffalo, and a general good thing for the area, since again, all the money came from New York City.

Reminds me of the groups in California that want to split the state into two or three different smaller states. Of course all the drawn lines are basically rural republicans wanting all the eastern side of the state and lock out all the more liberal urban centers on the coastline. I am noticing a pattern here.

@ThatNickGuy people in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan tend to root for the Green Bay Packers instead of the Detroit Lions due to their proximity to Wisconsin, but still root for the other local Detroit teams. This person put Detroit Red Wings legend Steve Yzerman’s name and number on a Green Bay Packers football jersey.

I know there were political reasons, but it's still astounding to me that the NHL has never been in Milwaukee. It seems like such a natural fit.

Blackhawks if you were in the southern part of the state, North Stars if you were in the NW part of the state, and your local HS squad pretty much elsewhere.

Oh, and the Badgers if you lived in Madison.

Reasons? I can give you nine.

1. Over 400k smaller MSA than Nashville, which is one of the smaller markets in the NHL (in the US). And, only about 400k larger than that place on the Niagara Escarpment between New York and Ontario.

2. 35th largest TV market according to Nielsen, right behind Columbus.

3. FiServ Forum, sadly, does not have an ice making plant - a decision intentionally made by the Bucks.

4. 92 miles. That's the distance between the FiServ Forum and the United Center.

5. The Wirtz family would NEVER allow a team to move within 150 miles of the UC.

6. Minnesota Wild owner Craig Liarpold Leopold has essentially quashed the idea of Milwaukee being an NHL market, and he's essentially got Bettman in his back pocket. (An aside: I'd be willing to bet that if he wanted when Bettman finally decided to retire, ol' Craig would find it really easy to slip into the Commish role.)

7. Liarpold Leopold is fast buddies with most of the Wisconsin GOP through his wife's family. As long as they hold sway over the legislature, any proposals for anything that'd favor an NHL team in MKE would be stomped down faster than a Trump Tweetstorm.

8. The time came and went for such a thing. The most ideal time for Milwaukee to get an NHL team was about 30 years ago, when the Bradley Center was new and expansion was on the horizon. But then Jane Pettit-Bradley told her husband Lloyd that he couldn't burn through her money just so he could "own" a hockey team.

9. The only time the BC or FiServ or whatever they'd build as an arena would be packed would be for games against the Blackhawks. (See "Wrigley Field North" for the reasons behind that.)

I'm interested to see what happens in NK. I know there is a sister, but she hasn't shown ANY interest in leading and I don't think the patriarchal military leaders in the country would allow it. So we're ether going to see a military coup or we're going to see someone try to install a fake "son".

Sister as a puppet is probably the cleanest. Maybe spin up the cult of personality and say that she was actually in charge the whole time or that Un spirit now resides in her in order to weed out his assassins.

Is there anything explicitly stating in north koreas constitution or whatever that leadership is passed from parent to child? I know it's always gone that way, but can't some general have whatever godlike qualities are assigned to the Kims?
