As someone who used to work for Lehman Brothers, I can confidently say, no, having white guys in charge does NOT prevent these things.

I'm pretty much 100% sure nobody else stands any chance - Hailey, Pence, whoever else decides they feel like wasting some money. DeSantis and Trump are the two potentials. And frankly, both of them are for varius reasons absolutely horrible. Both have advanced politics that don't even echo the 1930s nazis anymore but straight up 1940s nazis. I don't really see DeSantis winning, eithern, honestly. But he's a useful sacrificial lamb to make it seem like people get a chocie and to get a feel for how the Republican base thinks about some stuff. In some aspects (hawks vs isolationists in regards to Ukraine for example) he's a great A/B test candidate to run some ideas past the general public.
DeSantis is even more blatantly attacking anything not white, straight and cis and I feel like half his ideas would viiolate the first amendment if there was a SC who actually cared about that. The wording in some of the legislation to push drag shows into illegality could pretty much be interpreted to force women back out of trousers and make ear rings illegal for men, ffs.
And the "opposite" party has absolutely no interest in actually doing much to improve the actual lives of actual people, either. Seems like Biden won't even have an opponent running. So you get a choice between an octogenarian with health issues and mentally on the decline (which I really don't mean badly - the guy's pushing 80 a nd it's normal!) and someone who literally wants to build prison camps for people who think wrong. One side in favor of big companies and one side in favor of other big companies.
Once again I can only say that the two party system is completely fucking useless and in no way resembles anything approaching an actual democracy.
Desantis has one move throwing out culture wars nonsense to the base. He has no charisma or ability to rally a crowd just toss out red meat. Which is great for his current job but he can’t really take it on the road. He also blew his wad way too early. He’s already made it illegal to talk about LGBT issues with anybody school age. He’s already fought against black history being taught. He has already shipped migrants cross country. I’m sure that he can and will go lower I just don’t know if he’ll even be on solid legal grounds if he goes any lower than he already has.

Florida Republican's Bill Would Ban Young Girls From Discussing Their Periods In School
" The bill requires course material and instruction on sexually transmitted diseases, health education or material on human sexuality to 'only occur in grades 6 through 12,' according to the legislation."
The wording on the bill would make it illegal for girls under the 6th grade to discuss their periods at school. Republicans said they'd allow amendments to fix problems, but we all know they don't give a shit about women or children, and they would just as happily make it illegal for girls to have periods at all.

Reminder that these are the same people who think a woman has 9 periods per year, and one tampon should be enough to hold two-three days of discharge, so prices aren't a big deal; Oh, and women can just "hold it in". And those who don't want to get pregnant can just "stop it".
On the one hand, I think the "only women should talk about women's health" mentality itself is toxic - I know women who don't know how any of it works, either, and vice versa - but on the other hand, in all kinds of topics, I don't say only trained professionals are allowed an opinion but an absolute bare minimum of knoweldge about a topic should be required for people apassing laws about it. Be it "the internet is a series of tubes", "women only have two holes down there" or "the Earth is 6000 years old", agressive ignorance and pushing that ointo schools and brainwashing youth with it is horrible.

Texas Education Agency will take control of Houston ISD in June
The TEA Commissioner is an appointed position being used to oust elected officials in an area with a lot of minority voters. Houston ISD is less than 10% white students. Texas is actively trying to keep minorities from learning history.
