That's Bill Nye the Science Guy on the left - he had a tv-show way back when explaining science things to kids. On the right is Neil DeGrasse Tyson, scientist and vocal advocate against NASA budget and education budget cuts and all around awesome guy.

I know him mainly from his interviews on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Colbert Report. His explanation of Spaghettification was when I decided he was awesome.
