My legal rec shop is required to put my cartridges, edibles, and shatter in a childproof "go-bag" in addition to the already mostly childproof packaging, which I then frequently have to rip/tear/cut open to get to my weed. The bonus is, I get to smell and see all of my flower before choosing what I want to buy. I thought it was a ridiculous custom when we first moved here - but it turned out we were just going to bad dispensaries where they kiefed their weed before selling it. I'd be very hard pressed to go back to the Washington model of everything being prepackaged in 1/3.5/7/14/28g packages.
I'm totally on board with the seal being there and the childproof jar, though I wish it were glass I understand plastic is cheaper. There's just something very unusual about receiving a thing delivered by the postal service, a crown corporation, sold by the government itself, that came with excise stamps on it that a week before could have landed me in jail.
We got 4 different strains and that was the only one to come with any measure of real childproofing, though I'd argue the nigh kevlar bag with the impossible to open ziplock type seal was close. The other two came in these very odd, almost sleeve like cardboard boxes with a semi-hard plastic insert that was then sealed with a foil-lined paper. The plastic has notches that you're supposed to push into the box itself to prevent it from being removed if it's in there but they didn't do that great a job. I was able to just yank it out easily enough.
BC currently only has one official retail location currently and it's in Kamloops, three hours away. I like weed but not that much. There are locations in Vancouver where I am that are sitting in this weird gray area right now, they were allowed to open in 2015 to combat the black market sales and other reasons but as of Oct 17th could not sell product that they had before if they wanted any hope of staying open once retail licenses become available.
So, unfortunately, I'm a bit hosed currently when it comes to viewing the goods before buying.
