Coronavirus Thread

Last week, I had a discussion on how frustrating the Florida website could be because it kept changing and sometimes it was hard to get to the useful maps. I wonder how much of this was due to political meddling.

At your Wal-Mart super-duper center, COVID39 testing sponsored by BRAWNDO! The great new taste, now with the electrolytes viruses crave.

We went to Epcott. I’m sad I missed Club cool. Not for the Beverly, but. I would have loved some Diet Coke Merch. That was the day I finally gave in and had my foot looked at though by the medical clinic on site. I had been walking on a stress fracture all week. Apparently I walk strangely to accommodate my SI and it made me vulnerable to one.

@LordRendar That particular scene in the movie has been criticized for dragging on for far too long.
The purpose was no doubt to do a grand reveal of cinema-sized Enterprise, but so many think it's just booooring.

Oh boy, Trump declared churches essential. I can't wait for all of the Christmas/Easter onlies to go to Church to own the libs.

Our church sent out a survey as to when and what would be required for us to reopen as a church (as in, how soon and what restrictions).

I noted that I really wouldn't want to return in person until after the social distancing order had been rescinded.

A short public service announcement:

As temperatures start to rise in many parts of the US over the next few weeks, you may have some concern about keeping hand sanitizer in your car.

Let it be known that internet memes to the contrary, your bottle of sanitizer will not explode in your car. The photo being shared is not from a bottle of hand sanitizer burning in a car, but from another source (and originating in Brazil).

According to a 2018 study from Arizona State University and UC San Diego, the temperature in a car left in direct sunlight tops out at about 160 degrees after an hour. The alcohol in hand sanitizer would have to reach at least about 600 degrees before it would spontaneously combust, according to the National Fire Protection Association.

...

But it's probably not a good idea to store hand sanitizer in a car anyway, Monk said.

The heat could cause the alcohol to evaporate if the cap is loose or through diffusion via thin plastic. Evaporation of alcohol would would make the hand sanitizer less effective at killing germs.
BTW - the fire department that posted that photo on their FB page (and have since taken down with an apology) is one that services where my Uncle lives in Wisconsin.

I've seen it going around and I think I have eye strain now.

And threatened to override any state governors who try to keep churches in lockdown. Oh those Republicans, all for "States Rights" and "Small Government"!
