My fav part was how miserable the guy was when doing the woman's house stuff... almost as if they understood why the women wanted more...

A well known quote, even though I think there is more nuance to it, still feels relevant.
There are two things that I feel disconnect a lot of people from their empathy. First, when deaths are "spread out" people are less likely to take notice, because it's not concentrated and easy to digest singularly. COVID is a nationwide tragedy, and so having a few deaths in every state isn't going to hit people's brains as hard as stuff happening in a single location, like pretty much all those other examples. It's the same way so many people kind of gloss over the fact there are an average of 300 shootings a day in the US, but the minute a guy gets a gun and shoots fifteen people at a mall, suddenly everyone takes notice.
Second, people often take more stock when the enemy is more TANGIBLE. Our smooth monkey brains don't like uncertainty or randomness. When we were attacked on 9/11, we had a target we could point at and say "It was those guys!" and do something to punish them. You can't punish COVID. It's invisible, it could be anywhere, and there isn't any way to beat the crap out of it when you or someone you love gets it.
Those two things mean there is going to be a subset of people that will never think it's a "big deal" compared to those other events.

He's got people for that. Indoctrinated, mind-controled people.
That part honestly made me laugh out loud. I am sure the guy that wants UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE is just waist deep with insidious plans to cull our population. It must be that helping people treat preventable illness or beat cancer is just an excuse to make up the difference through aborted fetuses. Give me a break.
