[Rant] Minor Rant III: For a Few Hollers More

It's the opposite, actually. It might not be that you dislike the taste of microwaved water, it might instead be that you have become accustomed to the taste of water that has gone through your other method, the same way you might (as an example) learn to prefer fridge water stored in an iron pot (thereby giving the fridge water more of an iron-y taste).
Similarly, you might just be disliking the taste of microwaved water because there's something in your microwave imparting a taste to water which is microwaved there, the same way that your butter can start to take on the taste of onions if you leave uncovered onions in your fridge.

EDIT: If you do decide to do the Pyrex dish experiment, be careful handling the microwaved water just in case it is superheated.

That makes more sense. Over the years, I've tried it in several homes with different water sources (well, city, bottled, etc) and various microwaves though. It always has a weird metallic aftertaste for some reason.

I wonder what kind of person decaffeinated Bones would be. I remember when I had to go cold turkey off caffeine, it was hell and hangovers for a week.. but after that it was almost like vacation. My stress went down, and those closest to me said they liked me better because I was, and I quote, "way less of an asshole."

Hell, you guys remember how I USED to be, right?
basically just stop moving and go all quiet and relaxed. I also have even more trouble keeping myself together. Coffee keeps me focused with the ADD.

I went through countless french presses and coffee makers with the top two problems being the fact that either I never needed a whole pot of coffee, but I couldn't get the grounds to water ratio right for less than a pot, or the stupid thing never got cleaned out for months at a time and was always moldy the next time I wanted coffee; so we got a keurig with the side reservoir, and I've been enjoying coffee whenever I wanted it ever since. One of my favorite things to do recently has been to go to the grocery store once a week and buy a different variety of coffee. I'm really loving the Bob Marley blends.

I had two Keurig machines quit on me before I gave up and went back to the old carafe machine. After I period I got tired of wasting coffee and switched to the Hamilton Beach Scoop. It's a single cup maker that uses your own coffee with a permanent mesh filter. It even has a "bold" setting for the higher-end coffees. My wallet is so much happier now.

I just make a pot in the morning and pour it into my thermos. That way I have coffee wherever my job takes me that day.

Yeah, I'm expecting the head to be ok. It's a 2000 GMC 2500 savanna - nice big 8 cylinder engine made before the EPA regulations pretty much required vehicles to halve their engine weight.

Even if it is, though, a new cylinder head ought to cost less than $1,000 and while the labor is significant, it isn't more than maybe double the labor to take it off and replace the gaskets and seals anyway.

Worst case, I'm expecting it to come in under $3k. I'm hoping it's well under $2k. But even if it's that high, it'll be worth it for this car, and we'll just have to tighten our belts further and be grateful that I have an excellent credit rating.
I couldn't remember exactly where you live, but I took the liberty of shopping for a replacement vehicle for you:

I had a giant rip that went the full length of my butt pocket on my jeans today. I have no idea how long it's been there, or how many people got a good view of my boxers. At least I had an extra pair in my vehicle.

Boxers, jeans, or butt pockets?

The company's storage shed got broken into last night. The thieves stole a bunch of extension cords and some other random equipment that was for our annual charity toy drive that we do at the beginning of each December.

It's that time of year again. That time when people get tired of waiting for you to give them stuff and so they decide to encourage your generosity on their own.

Our manager's office was broken into Sunday night. I was answering a guest request and returned to the lobby to find the office door bashed in. Cash was taken, but other stuff, like my laptop and iPad, was left behind.

It gets suspicious. Only certain (non-random it turns out) things were taken, and whoever it was knew how to avoid our parking lot security cameras.

Starting to smell an inside job.

Yeah, I was specifically told by Walmart employees that their online prices are separate from the store pricing. This was in the early days of HDMI when Walmart had a cable online for $6, but for $25 in the store.
