What are you playing?

Basically, let's look at it this way:

DS Lite can play DS games and GBA games.
DSi can play DS games.
3DS can play DS games and 3DS games.

So get the DS Lite if you want the option for older stuff or the 3DS if you want the option for newer stuff. Yeah, the DSi has downloadable games, but they're also on the 3DS.

I think it should be stated that the 3DSXL has some of the best reso/clarity of any handheld if you have any intention of playing DS games.

I'm considering buying one of the limited edition Pikachu ones just to be one of those dicks who sells it on ebay later when no one can find them anymore.

Not sure if I want to be that guy though.[DOUBLEPOST=1364013154][/DOUBLEPOST]Yeah, you're right.

I don't know if I have ever actually turned the 3d on my 3DS on...
I turn the 3D on, but turn it off after awhile to rest my eyes.
I also never use the 3D On mine and would recomend getting it, unless you want the gba slot.
Usually this is what I do. I keep it at a low setting though, as at full this thing pulls a Virtual Boy on me and it feels like I've been slamming my head into a wall for an hour.

You are all people with a 3DS of some variation. We should all do Friend codes. Like some kind of Halforums gang.

The moral of the story here, is DO NOT LET THE 3D KEEP YOU AWAY FROM THE 3DS!

Speaking of which, I'm going to be diving back into Mario Sticker Star pretty soon. I'm about halfway through it.

I have a DSi XL and never use it. I honestly don't know when or where in my life I'd find the time r place to add in another gaming system. If I did play, though, I'd still not buy a 3DS because of the message it sends. People like 3D! Everybody has to be 3D! let's make all TVs and consoles 3D! Preferably ONLY 3D! Whooo! New shit no-one wants to shovel down the consumer's throat!

Mind you, I'm not against 3D per se, but it has never, ever worked for me so far (including the 3DS). Blegh. And, as you can see from all the great people in this thread who *do* own a 3DS...Hardly anyone likes the 3D! But that's not the message being understood. 3D is selling, make more 3D! Whoo!

Eh, who am I kidding, if I could, I would. Get a 3DS, that is.

Nintendo is woefully aware of how few people actually use the 3D on their system right now. They are under no illusions that it's just driving up the price point right now.

Let's hope so. Still doesn't mean everybody else won't jump on the idea for another decade.

Honestly, I see no reason why the ability to have 3D if desired shouldn't be on newer technologies. Just because you hate it doesn't mean that everyone does and if you don't like it, you can just turn it off. There is absolutely no way ANYTHING would be made 3D only. It's not feasable. It cuts out an entire huge swatch of customers who can't use 3D at all, such as people with lazy eyes and such.

I know a bunch of people here have a hate boner for anything 3D, but its existence doesn't effect your enjoyment of anything.

For example, as was pointed out in another thread, I HATE interpolation on TVs and I think it makes things look like ass. That doesn't mean that I think that the option shouldn't be on TVs.

As for the argument that will be coming next. The original retail price of the DS is the same as the current retail price of the 3DS, so no, the 3D did not make the system mor expensive.

I'm not against the 3D being there. If it was the only new aspect to the 3DS over the DS, I wouldn't have gotten one. But damn do I love the gyroscope, I love the camera functions in some games, streetpass functions, going online to look up stuff for a game without having to exit the game, and of course, the games are capable of a lot more than the older systems. I'm excited to see how some of the features factor into the new Pokemon games when they're released in October (translation: they had better take full advantage of what the 3DS can do).

I am Nintendo's bitch. Not pictured: every other nintendo handheld ever. I've got an original gameboy, gameboy pocket, gameboy color, GBA, fat DS, and a virtual boy. Yes... I do regret that last one.

I'm a little late, but I vote 3DS, and then pick a GBA SP for your GBA games. (I <3 the SP SO HARD.) I rarely use the 3D on the 3DS but I like that I can play all the games. My roommate has a DSi and was sad she couldn't play the new Professor Layton game (so she just borrowed Mike's 3DS). The 3D isn't a problem for me. I find 3D pretty pointless when it comes to movies, aaand I also hate wearing the glasses. I just rarely use it since the batter lasts much longer without using that function. Every now and then, I like to turn it on because it's cool. :)

I would add to hold a GBA SP if you decide to get that before you buy it. They're really hard to play if you have more than average-sized hands. I get cramps in my fingers.

I saw someone on reddit had replaced his GBA's screen with the SP's, which I thought was awesome. Sadly it looks to be a fairly delicate operation thanks to the way the screen ribbon is placed in the SP. At this point you could get a DS or maybe even a DS Lite so cheap though it probably doesn't matter.

I still keep my GBA around for playing GB games and Boktai, as it's hard to play Boktai with a backlit screen.

I'm currently playing RETRO/GRADE and my eyes are about to bleed.

It's an indie game in the style of a rhythm based bullet hell space shooter... except you play it in reverse.

Seriously, you start at the boss battle of the final level, win the game, and then a catastrophic explosion causes the flow of time to reverse. You have to redo the adventure in reverse to avoid a paradox, by flying in front of all of the shoots you took (which are coming towards you now) and hitting the trigger to unshoot them, all set to music. It's pretty fun.

Last night I finally called it: I'm sorry, Arkham City, but I'm a working father, and someone else can go hunt down all of the Riddler crap. I've moved on to Portal 2, and it's hard to express what a relief it is.

Oh for sure. I finished it a couple of weeks ago, but the less than 50% completion really bothered me. I persisted, but I started to realize that I wasn't really enjoying it anymore.

I hate that easter egg hunt BS. It's the single player equivalent of MMO grinding, if you ask me.

I just finished Battlefield 1942. Dumping tons of det charges into a truck to make it a giant bomb are still amazing.Relive the greatest war in history. One of my favorite one.
I still haven't "finished" BF1942. If you're not an adbot, you should try the desert combat mod. It puts desert storm era equipment and vehicles in the game and changes the two sides to the US and Iraq.

Waiting for my Luigi's Mansion to get here tomorrow, then I will be trying to save it for my trip to see my parents next week, but will inevitably fail and justify it by saying "Well my son can play it on the plane then instead."

For now playing some SC2 yay!

Really torn on this one myself. I never played the Gamecube one, so I don't know what to expect exactly. I wish Nintendo would release a demo. It feels like their only major recent release that they've opted out of doing a demo for, even though I have Shigeru Miyamoto sending me SwapNotes and appearing as a Mii in a Luigi hat telling me to buy the game.
