What are you playing?

Stardew Valley has been updated to version 1.1, with some new features. One such new feature is that you can choose a different farm layout when you start a new farm, with each layout focusing on a different skill. (eg, a fishing-oriented farm with lots of rivers and streams, a combat-oriented farm where monsters come at night, etc) So I figured this would be a good time to start a new farm. I picked the forest foraging farm layout, with lots of trees and stumps and other stuff for me to harvest.

Holy crap I'd forgotten how easy it is to exhaust yourself at the beginning of the game, before you get any stardrops. I barely managed to clear out enough space to plant a handful of parsnips before I ran out of energy.

Still though, looking forward to trying out the new stuff.

Alright, being forced into a one on one boss fight with a character I literally just obtained in an RPG where he can kill you in the opening volley which results in a game over is complete and utter horseshit. Even more horseshit is it's a game over. What, my other two characters are just gonna stand there and be like, well, I guess this guy we just met lost, might as well retire with a bullet in the mouth.

That sounds familiar, what game is that?

Yeah that was one of the things in RG I hated, if MC dies it's automatic Game Over.

The skill system gets really annoying, too, as some of those items are stupid rare.

In Fallen Enchantress... I've found I can mercilessly sack a town or two and then demand that faction's surrender and they will usually capitulate. The thing is, then that faction's sovereign becomes one of your hero units... with all its stats at a 25% penalty because their "spirit is broken," which means they're usually a little underpowered.

So what I used to do is not demand surrender, but simply sack and raze every single one of their cities. Which took FUH REH VURRR.

But then it occurred to me... I've got this "steal spirit" magic spell that lets my sovereign take an ability from one of his hero units, killing that hero unit permanently. PROBLEM SOLVED.

I just have to rememember to sell off all that captured sovereign's stuff first, which I don't always remember to do >_<

One last thought... when I force an enemy faction to surrender, and their broken-spirited sovereign becomes my vassal... WHY DO ALL THEIR REMAINING CITIES SELF DESTRUCT INSTEAD OF CHANGE OWNERSHIP TO ME?

"Oh no, Lady Elabeth has surrendered and become sworn vassal to GasBandit! Welp, I guess it's time for the holocaust. Here, dear, take this knife and go show Junior how to slash his own throat and I'll go attend to our newborn, then we'll meet in the kitchen for rat poison tea. Don't forget to set the house on fire!"

Yokai Watch

Finally gave in and got this, and I don't regret it...despite my telling it will take up most of my time. Its like Pokemon, if instead of taking place in Kanto it takes place on an obvious hellmouth! Seriously, "Springdale"? Those localizers knew what they were doing.

Had my thirty fifth birthday last week. Suddenly I get too drowsy to game properly much more easily. For example, I was playing Football Manager 2016 last night before bed, when I dozed off in front of my computer, but kept playing without even realizing it. When I woke up, I realized that I had:

1. Changed my team's tactical formation in the middle of the match, but apparently did not shuffle my players around properly to account for it, and as a result I had a winger playing central defense, a central defender playing as an attacking midfielder, and an attacking midfielder playing out on the wing.

2. This led to a loss in the match. In the post-match interview, I apparently chose the option to storm out of the room when questioned about the loss.

3. My unprofessional behavior in the interview led to some players voicing concerns. I held a team meeting, and I don't know what I said in the meeting, but apparently it was enough to piss off pretty much every member of my first-team squad.

So, basically, I woke up to find that I'd lost a match, acted totally unprofessionally in the subsequent interview, and antagonized all my best players. Oh, and then I saved the game.

I thought falling asleep was pretty common while playing Football Manager.

New PS Plus games are here.

I think if I was even slightly into Transformers, I'd really enjoy Transformers: Devastation, but since I'm not, it feels like Bayonetta-lite. I figured I'd just play for the gameplay, but it's not as well developed, and I know that's because little kids would want to play this game too. Better to keep them safe somewhere playing this than out on the streets where their peers might expose them to Michael Bay movies.

The game looks amazing though. Fantastic visually; I wish more games looked like this.

Toybox Turbos. Why did no-one tell me this game existed? It's Micro Machines in all but name! Micro Machines!

Fuck yes!

Awesomenauts

I know I've made this kind of post on this game before, but I don't know why I keep playing this game. No, I do. It's addictive, well-balanced online game. One of the few I actually enjoy playing and am not terrible at. Not good enough to carry a team or anything, but I can hold my own.

No, what I hate about this game is the community. The majority of them are fucking assholes who either quit because they're not doing well or start blaming their teammates. Instead of, I don't know, admitting that the other team might be good? Why does the blame have to go on the teammates? Why not just concede the other team is better in this case?

Fucking hell, I don't know why I keep playing this game.

Start playing League of Legends. That should make you feel better.

One day, sentient AI will be created, far beyond the realm of what anyone could ever imagine. And it will then play League, and decide that humanity is a mistake it must correct.

SMITE is almost as bad a league of legends, ESPECIALLY if you play Ranked. All the leet MLG kiddies think they have a future in e-sports and it's my job to bring them back to reality.

I've heard WoW and similar games are bad, too.

As someone playing WoW again, WoW isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. Probably because it isn't as popular as it used to be, and the player base skews older now. The randos I've been playing with in WoW have been perfectly fine.

PvP content or bleeding-edge raiding is where the real dickbags dwell in basically every MMORPG. You'll find the occasional weenie in random groups, but the worst of the worst is PvP for sure.

But even there, it's nowhere near the toxicity I saw in LoL.

That's why on the rare occasions I play LoL, I stick to ARAM. People are slightly less dickish there.
I still play league everydayish. Pretty much exclusively just arams for about the last two years. Like I legit have about 2800 total games of just aram and only 12oo or so for rift. It's so much more fun than rift, which is why I'm playing at all, to have fun. Even if someone is being a piece of shit in aram the game is over relatively quickly that it's not the purgatory that 40-60 minute matches of rift feels like sometimes. Arams also helped me learn champs that I would never have tried otherwise.

That's probably part of the problem: Awesomenaut players seem to be largely a younger crowd. I can't really get a game will a full 6 players until the afternoon, when school starts getting out.

This modern age of WoW will never be able to match how good the interserver rivalries were. Hell, the server forums were just as much fun as the game itself.

Finished the main Sith Warrior storyline with my Marauder, Verdugo Estoque. He also reached Dark IV. The effect is... noticeable.

This is what he looked like before:

Finally put some time into my lowbie BH (now Powertech) Zhora Feral, using some of the armor I've gotten through KotFE with Mahavir Isha.

By the way, Dark Side romance Jaesa is.... special. "Together we will populate the galaxy with our Sith bloodline" after you agree to marry her. So apparently she's a breeder.

'Betrayed' Cinematic Trailer for Knight of The Eternal Throne, coming in December 2016.

Senya looks a lot like Daisy Ridley there, doesn't she?

Also, if you're subscribed on October 25th, you'll be able to get Shae Vizla (aka Torch, aka Mandalore The Avenger, aka the hot redhead Mandalorian from the 'Deceived' trailer) as a companion

Oh, and if you enter the code NYCantina16 at swtor.com (ie sign in and go to 'redeem a code') you get a special promotional mount for all your characters.

Worth noting that this is turning into a tradition; subscribing during a certain period during the lead up to finale of Fallen Empire got you Nico Okkar (aka Snare), who was the Smuggler in the Return trailer (which also features T7, from the Jedi Knight story).

KOTOR 3 is not going to happen*. The story continued here. It's continuing here, because SWTOR makes enough money to justify it's existence. And starting with Knights of the Fallen Empire, the story is good enough to stand on it's own again.

Honestly, what needs to happen is they need to pull a Cataclysm and completely re-vamp the 1-50 content. They've made it SHORTER... cut out a lot of bullshit filler missions completely and made you get enough XP to advance doing just the Class and Planet story missions. But really, all of it just sort of needs to be remade with the sensibilities used with Knights of the Fallen Empire. They are borrowing HEAVILY from The Secret World, making the focus on single player but with the option to team up, and that needs to extend to the original Class storylines. As it is, I've already done all 8 class stories and I never want to have to do them again.

*unless we get an Old Republic movie, which is starting to look more likely.

T7 is also the droid in the Deceived trailer. His master that he talks about frequently during the Jedi Knight storyline is the one Darth Malgus kills at the end of the trailer.

The trooper, Jace Malcolm, and Satele Shan from the Return trailer are also from the Hope trailer, which is prior to the Deceived trailer - Malgus getting the grenade to the face from Malcolm is why he's wearing a respirator in Deceived. And the Twi'lek with the painted on pants? That's Malgus' wife.

And yes, they need to totally revamp the 1-50 content. It is a goddamn slog as it is.
