Rant VIII: The Reckoning

I mean yes, but I've never considered myself a popular member - just one who posts a lot of pictures of herself because VANITY. :D

I feel like I don't know how to handle the idea of popularity so I'll probably say something stupid real soon.
Considering the likes of Miley, Britney, and oh-so-many-others, saying something incredibly stupid seems about on par nce you've gotten popular. Then, a bit of a slump, after which you come back even hotter, more interesting and with a new found depth to your point of view that wasn't there before. Or, you know, you crash and burn mightily. Let's try not to do that ;)

Just start taking offense to EVERYTHING.

The funny thing is, I can't think of a single person here who has felt under attack or looked down upon simply because of who they are. We've had had every part of the LGBT community, women, POC, etc. Nobody here had taken any crap for that - only the things they've said.

Oh wait! I can think of one. O_C and Frank, because they are policemen. And who did that? Hmmm. Let me see....

This board has said some very racist things about my endorian heritage.

Ehh, that's a dangerous thing to say. Maybe none have complained about it, but that's not the same.

And/or, obligatory joke troll comment: Icarus didn't feel welcome here because of his sexual preference :troll:

Ooh...I forgot about him. Yeah, he'd be the one.

But as to the other point, nobody has ever said anything and if they did I would take action, unless it were something like Charlie and his never-ending crusade. There was discussion on the whole "f**" think about gay people and because of that we no longer allow it. So we do listen and attempt to be as accepting as possible.[DOUBLEPOST=1433878187,1433878104][/DOUBLEPOST]And we interrupt the SJW talk for this rant:

I'm off to the doctor's office. Time to get my infected leg abraded.[DOUBLEPOST=1433878201][/DOUBLEPOST]But first I have to try and fit on a shoe.

I know, I'm merely pointing out that a person in authority claiming no-one feels attacked/belittled/criticized because no-one's reporting it is not dissimilar to plantation owners claiming their slaves are happy and content because none ever complains to them. How's that for a Charlie metaphor :p That's exaggerated, but it is somewhat similar to claiming, say, rape incidence is low because rape reporting is low. There are often huge barriers to reporting - more often than not in the mind of the victim, about not being believed, not wanting to be a bother, not wanting to direct attention towards their "abnormality" (be that what it may and meaning no judgment), and so on. It's very hard to judge such things from the outside.
We have some fairly forthright/outspoken gay people on here. We have a T-girl admin and used to have a gay one (err, I dunno, is Green Lantern still around?). Even so, people can still have the feeling the administrators are The Man. It's one of those privilege things, I guess.

I also want to say that I went with the tamer of the two options I had for the post that delivered us from Charlie and got squished by Dave seconds later.

I slid into home, injuring my leg (more severely than I had thought) and the worst part is I was out and that ended the game.

But I'm back and they did not have local or pills to give me. They numbed it a little using 2% lidocaine, but 2% lidocaine is like 2% alcohol. Yeah, it's in there, but...

It hurt and I only bitched a little, but it's after that has been incredibly painful. That 2% has worn off and all I have is Aleve and Ibuprofen to help. So yeah, my leg right now is throbbing to the beat of "Stayin' Alive".

No, apparently they have moved away from the compressions and breathing. Blue Cross teaches compression only, but St Johns teaches compression and airway.

But it is a rather simple instruction to follow, here have the Yankee version.
