Coronavirus Thread

I kinda think we do. Assholes revealing their awful opinions, like all the anti-vaxxers out there, don't deserve to get their own threads, or clutter up other good threads.
It hurts my nads that there's definitely enough content to populate that thread. So here it is.

My unvaccinated, prompted by her Doctor because of heart condition*, Mother is in Ottawa "protesting" without a mask AND WITH A HEART CONDITION. I will literally be shocked if she comes out of this alive.

*I do not for a second believe she was told this by her Doctor, or if she was it was definitely early on.

Yeah, I keep seeing those crowds of protesters. They're huddled close together and barely any of them are wearing masks. Five'll get you ten this turns into a super spreader event.

You see that fuck in the third picture? I've complained about his barely human ass so many times in the Canadian politics thread. That's my local MP, Michael Cooper, who I went to high school with. He was an intolerable piece of shit then and he went on to be kicked out of every committee in parliament after he read from the Christchurch manifesto in a warning about the dangers of Muslims in Canada. And now there he is, handing coffees out to people waving Nazi flags and Canadian flags defaced with swastikas and fucking Confederate flags. He grew a 'beard' because he looks like a half-formed human clone without it.

I hate him.

I'm back to be mad about Michael Cooper. That piece of shit has literally never had a job other than politician, funded by his obscenely well off parents and their disgusting psuedo-death cult church. He tried to run for class president in High School, but everyone hated him.

He's the one that looks like Slappy and TheReportOfTheWeek's illegitimate child right?

I feel your pain. Two words: Robin Vos.

It continues to flabbergast me how much shit some groups can get away with.
Antivaxxer Trumpist racist selfish bastards (I'm not saying all anti-vaxxers are necessarily all of those; the left wing antivax movement may actually be larger than the rigth wing here, though they're equally shitty) can block highways, get people killed, cause incredible damage, etc etc, and they keep being treated with kids' gloves, BLM protests that blocked an ambulance would be headlines all over and probably have the same people calling for the death penalty for the BLM protestors.
Media and politics keep saying these are a minute minority we should ignore, but the same politics and media keep giving them attention and allowing shit to happen that would never fly for some other actually worthwhile minorities.

I've had a compromised immune system all my life and it's gotten worse as I've gotten older. As a result, I'm enjoying having Covid for the second time, even though I've been vaccinated. The protesters, the Covid-denyers, the "it's no worse than the flu" spouters - they can all fuck off.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, i know people with 3 shots and no immune issues (that i know of) who are home with Covid right now.

...

Also, i tested negative today... i was pretty sure the PCR would come back negative because no way the rapid test wouldn't have caught it with the way my nose is running. I'm around 6 test now (1 of which was inconclusive). I think i might have been tested more then anyone i know.

Anyway... yay for a week of work while sick...

....really? I know people who've been tested well into the dozens of times. My brother has mandatory weekly tests at work, AND mandatory tests every week for travelling, AND mandatory testing bi-weekly because he's an at-risk patient, AND he self-tests for every social interaction, which is also once or twice a week. And he's not an exception at all. My wife has mandatory weekly tests at work, too, though she doesn't travel as much so doesn't get as many other tests done.

I can't believe that I, in Texas, in my line of work that has as much travel and public exposure as it does, have still managed to not get Covid. Half my company was out with Covid in the last month, and both the other people in my department have either had it or had a spouse have it.

Either I'm unbelievably lucky or I'm an asymptomatic carrier.

Either way, that mask has been staying on from the instant I get out of my car until I get back in to go home again.

We have mandatory tests, too. And most are vaccinated.

I feel you. I teach in classroom filled with kids who, in the best of times, are incredibly irresponsible. I’ve had dozens of students out with Covid in the last year. Yet somehow I’ve dodged it (so far).

Here is how Dave Barrack, creator of grrlpowercomic, put it:
So, I’ve got Covid (probably Omicron). Not because I’m some dumbass anti-vaxxer, but just because we have a high-schooler in the house who managed to go a whole year without bringing anything back with him, but there’s like 2,000 kids in the school, so it was basically inevitable. I got my shots, but never got around to the booster, and so far it’s like a pretty mild case of the flu, although one point on my side is starting to get awfully sore from all the coughing. Except, I seem to be having some fairly weapons grade insomnia, and my energy and attention is suffering for it so. Sometime it takes me 5 days to draw 2 comic pages, this week it took seven. Haven’t even started on the nudie pinup yet this month. Well, actually each time I sit down to do one, I spend half a day drawing and discarding ideas, so I probably have some half-finished pencils I can dredge up and polish. But I’ll probably start a new one, hopefully keep it to a single character this time.
I’m so tired.
Melatonin fucks up my blood pressure and also I basically can’t wake up until about noon the next day, so I’m going to try the time-proven method of drinking a bunch of booze. Wish me luck! Skål!
BTW, if you are a dumbass anti-vaxxer, DO NOT POST ABOUT IT HERE. I will ban you from commenting forever. On the plus side, you will have more time to go and Darwin yourself out of our gene pool, thereby reducing your drag factor on the rest of humanity.
Update: My wife pointed out that chasing nyquil with a tumbler full of Goldschlager* might not be the best idea, so I ditched the booze plan but somehow wound up getting a pretty decent night’s sleep. I think all the previous insomnia caught up with me. Anyway, I woke up this morning feeling pretty good. I’m not 100%, but I think I’m over the hump. Took about 5 days to get there. Hopefully I’m on the mend and this isn’t just a temporary boost because I’m well rested, but we’ll see.

*Yeah, Goldschlager. I’m not a whiskey guy or scotch or whatever else, I like drinks that taste good. Actually, my favorite drink currently is Dr. McGillicuddy’s Apple Pie Liqueur, but Goldschlager has twice the booze which makes it better for getting knocked out.

I probably got omicron from letting myself be bullied into going to a funeral full of anti maskers. It wasn't terrible due to 3x shots, but I basically slept a whole day away with a headache, and then could not really use my brain very well for a few days after that due to intense brain fog.
